Bonnie is doing really well considering her traumatic year! We are all a little greyer but everything is looking up for our sweet pup!

She has managed to come down to a very low dose of Steroids, 10mg a day for the past month and has not shown any signed of regression with her jaw movement thus far. We are hopeful she can eventually come off the steroids all together one day!

Her body condition has improved hugely! She is now 37kg, the weight she was before she became ill. At her sickest she got to 29kg so this is a massive improvement.

We have been doing regular physio appointments to make sure her mobility is improving and she is doing really well. Last week the Phsyio has said she can now just be checked in on her progress every 6-8 weeks going forward!

The steroids have given her a crazy food drive and unfortunately this has not reduced yet, we are trying to give her more fibre to satiate it but to no avail yet.

She is very much still the sweet Bonnie we know and love and apart from her many patches of missing fur from all the procedures you wouldn't know what she'd been through! The hair is very slowly coming back months on.

Bonnie is back at the beach, back in the office and we couldn't be more relieved!

Thanks again to everyone for your support, it has been such a big help getting her to this point!

  • Happy Bonnie Update 23rd June

Hi everyone! Happy news, Bonnie has been recovering really well! She is filling out again nicely, currently still regaining that 10kg weight loss and muscle mass.

She goes to regular Physio appts to check she is progressing well, one of the effects of steroids on the body is decreased joint support so we are also giving her supplements and making sure she is doing the right exercises needed during her rehab.

She can now jump into the car and onto the bed. Her stamina on walks is increasing, but still a little slow. She also has started to enjoy company of other dogs again and even playing tug of war with us at home with her fav toys.

She has also been receiving acupuncture to help her recovery and we feel this has had a positive impact also!

Things are looking up for our girl. She is still on a low dose of prednisoe each day but we may be loking at eventually weaning her off it if the vet thinks it is doable. We can only hope now that she doesn't have another MMM relapse and stays our happy healthy girl for many more years.

I also wanted to let you know that you're donations have really meant the world to us and have helped us keep going on Bonnies treatment. We have paid off her vet bills to date and have some left over to continue to pay for the physio and future vet appts she will have this year. Thank you all so much again! Xx

Bonnie is proving she was worth the fight and setting this page up. Since I last wrote she has had a few more vet visits and bloods taken, her liver is getting better, he muscles are starting to get stronger and her overall demeanour is much happier and coming back to her old self.

Bonnie has recieved her first acupuncture session to see if this can help balance her system and help her muscel atrophy and her jaw.

Bonnie has had a vet phsyio consutl an Black Dog Phsyio's last Friday and I am pleased to say she has no current injuries and we now have 10 exercises to work on to help strengthen her front and back legs and core and jaw. She has lost so much muscle so it will be interesting to see how she progresses and will be assessed again in two weeks time.

Again thank you so much to everyone for your generosity, well wishes and support of myself and Bonnie. She is making a come back and I hope she will be summer ready for beach weather and playing again. Things are finally looking up so let's keep riding that train!

  • Monday - A Good Day!

      5 May 2025

Thank you everyone for your kind messages and donations and love!

On Friday, Bonnie had another crisis where the vet was worried her gut was so unwell it may turn her body septic. It was a hard call with treatment as it was the end of our insurance cover and she was not well at all! We thought for the 2nd time in two weeks we may lose her. But we decided we had to give it another shot and see if she could pull through yet again.

Initially we thought maybe she was in an Addisonian crisis but now we suspect the Cyclosporine medicine we used to replace the high dose prednisone was not agreeing with her and a combo of other things. We are not quite out of the woods yet but she is doing soooooo much better today and it is a joy to see our girl returning.

With your generous donations I was able to rest easy over the weekend knowing that if our girl needed after hours care or more vet help we could afford it again.

The money will all be used to her continuing vet appts, medication, check ups and anything to help her fully recover and live that happy life she deserves!

Thank you so much, you've all really helped us!

  • Bonnie update

      2 May 2025

Bonnie went to the vet this morning as she started regurgitating again and has very runny stool and her gut is very unhappy even though last night she seems really quite well.

The vet called midday and bonnie is in really bad shape.

Her body is struggling to fight. They have put her on IV antibiotics and are doing fluids and some other stuff which I can't remember the names of to see if they can help gut get happier. It is all risky and it could go very wrong very quickly, or she could respond well and either come home or most likely will need after hours care tonight. We have spoken about saying goodbye if we need to and will assess this often to ensure she is being given the best chance but also a happy future.

I am so grateful to you all, thank you for helping.

I post regularly on @bon.n.co if you want to follow.
