Please help Boston Schroeder get to Orlando, Florida to play basketball in one of the biggest tournaments for YBOA Youth B'ball of America.
Auckland
My name is Boston and I am a very passionate 11 year old Basketball player. Please help me raise funds to get to Florida to one of the biggest high school tournaments.
I have been selected in a team with CCB (Capital City Basketball) to represent New Zealand at the YBOA (Youth Basketball of America) National Championship in July this year.
Me and my parents have worked very hard the last few months to raise the funds for this trip. Long hours at sausage sizzles outside hardware stores, cooked lunches at work and cake stalls have contributed towards this trip. We are not quite there yet and are hoping to reach my fundraising goal with this page.
I am one of the youngest players to go on this trip.
A note from Mum:
Boston has exceeded all our expectations and we are extremely proud of his determination, hard work and love for this sport.
When he started playing basketball two years ago we didn’t realise that only 10 months later he would skip two age groups and play for an U13 rep team that also made it to the Nationals in Dunedin. Boston keeps impressing coaches and teachers at school with his hard work and passion. As a year 7 student he made the top year 8 team at school (1100 pupils with 25% of basketballers) and the top rep team for his club this year.
Between school and sleeping you will find Boston at a variety of gyms to practise his shooting and foot work to ensure he one day makes his dream of a scholarship and playing professionally come true. Outside of his school and club commitments, Boston trains 7 hours a week with his personal coach Carl Buck Jnr who is his role model and an outstanding coach and person.
Boston loves quotes and currently lives by the follwoing:
*** Hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard.***
*** You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. ***
*** When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you'll be successful.***
The cost for the trip is $5100 which covers the airfare, accommodation, rental car, tournament fee, travel insurance and managers fees as well as the food. It does not include spending money which Boston works for separately.
