Braeden needs more treatment

  • So far, so good!

      12 April 2023

As this page closes soon I thought I'd update you all on Braeden's progress. Post transplant no 2 he is doing as well as can be expected and is back in his flat, although still isolating due to low immunity levels. From here on it's another nail biting, sleepless nights waiting game! We are of course, trying to remain positive but that's far easier said than done. This has been a hell of a challenge for Braeden, family and friends, not to mention Amanda who has supported him right through. We are so grateful to everyone who has in some small way made the journey so far a little easier. We are once again, making the long trip to Wellington this weekend to catchup but it's worth it just to spend time with our boy.

Love and thanks to everyone 💕

  • Transplant today!

      20 January 2023

Can't help but have a feeling of deja vu as it was almost a year ago that Braeden had his first bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately it wasn't successful and we are praying that today's transplant will have a better outcome. This is a major, high risk, medical procedure and we certainly don't take it lightly but it is Braeden's best hope for a cure and that is what we have to focus on. Thanks so much to everyone for your support and encouragement as we continue climbing what can only be described as Everest!!

  • Transplant 2

      20 December 2022

The latest update is that all going well with Braeden's next biopsy results, he will undergo another transplant, this time with myself as the donor on January 5th. Following the transplant he will once again be required to isolate for 100 days. This time, however, he will most likely be supported by his girlfriend, preferable to being stuck with mum or dad again!!! (Works both ways son lol!). His sister and I are currently staying with him in Wellington and today I had blood tests etc leading up to the procedure.

Many thanks for your kind donations which are much needed and appreciated. Traveling to and from Wellington is costly!

Anyway, just wanted to keep you all in the loop and to wish you and your whanau a safe and happy Christmas xx

  • Thank you Pharmac!

      22 November 2022

We are so thankful to Pharmac who have agreed to fund Braeden's next round of medication. He will be the first person in NZ with ALL, post bone marrow transplant, to have this medicine. The medicine is given as a continuous infusion over a month and he will need to be in hospital during this time. Hopefully, after this he will once again be in remission and will have a 2nd bone marrow transplant with myself, Mum, as the donor this time. We are very grateful for both the financial and emotional support shown by our friends, family and in some cases, total strangers. We are excited to be heading to Wellington to visit Braeden this weekend. (It will be 9 months since I hugged him!!!) Your generosity means we don't have to stress about the extra cost of petrol and accommodation and can just enjoy spending time with our boy and in Tara's case, her big brother who she misses so much.

    ❤️
