Supporting Henri to access an unfunded medication that is necessary in his fight against brain cancer. more $$ = more medicine
Heathcote Valley, Christchurch
As Henri enters his 18th month since being diagnosed with Grade 4 Astrocytoma (an aggressive brain tumour), we are reaching out for support to help fund access to a drug treatment that is new to Henri and essential in his – and his family’s – fight against brain cancer.
Since starting Bevacizumab in January 2026, Henri’s symptoms and quality of life have noticeably improved. Unfortunately, the medication is not currently funded by Pharmac and comes with a large financial cost. As Henri has been unable to return to work since his diagnosis, his family have been relying on a single income to cover all regular expenses, bills, and now medical care.
Our amazing friend Henri has shown incredible resilience in an impossibly difficult situation. Despite having undergone two brain surgeries, multiple hospital admissions, and extremely difficult speech and dexterity symptoms Henri continues to show up with hope, humour and determination.
While Henri carries the diagnosis, he is not facing it alone. His wife Anna, and daughter Noa, are with him every step of the way – balancing full-time work, normal life’s responsibilities, and helping a brave three-year-old make sense of what is happening to her dad.
Your donation will help give Henri access to treatment. Ongoing use will mean improvement in his physical symptoms, feeling better, and will hopefully slow any future tumour growth.
Your support means more to us than words can express, thank you.
Brain Storm is a fundraising group made up of Henri, Anna, and Noa's family and friends.
Funds raised will go directly to the cost of Bevacizumab.
Bevacizumab costs Henri and his family $2682 every 3 weeks, plus ongoing consultation and treatment costs as determined by the private medical team.
That’s more than $46,488 p/year.
