After having breasts removed due to cancer. Sue is having to cover Insurance company short fall

Manawatu / Whanganui

2023 test revealed that Sue had cancer and the recommendation was to remove the breast and surrounding affected muscle followed up by chemotherapy and radiation. In 2025 it was recommended due to Sue’s history and the type of cancer. That her right breast should be removed which was done leaving Sue fairly scarred and with excess skin leaving her looking quite deformed. Sue has battled with the choice of having reconstruction surgery or not. She is certainly not superficial in her looks but when she looks in the mirror the scarring is very confronting so knowing she had insurance she has gone down the road of choosing to get reconstructive surgery for both her breasts . Sue was told she was covered by her insurance company, they have now come back to her saying that her having her right breast removed was a choice and not deemed as a priority They will not cover the full amount. This decision has left sue devastated ,mentally and physically exhausted as she thought she had done everything right and she was covered by insurance. It was a huge decision to have the surgery only to be disappointed by an insurance company. Sue it’s not the type of person who likes to ask for help, she is a strong honest woman , who would just like to feel feminine ,whole and complete when looking in the mirror . So as her friend I am asking everyone to help Sue raise the short fall from the insurance company.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
