Brendan & Steph who had everything taken from them when they exercised their right to choose.

Auckland

In Jan 2022 the Lone Star Directors terminated our franchise agreement after Worksafe had fined us 24K for not complying with the hospitality mandates here in NZ. We lost our business and then our home which was the culmination of 15 years hard work running our own businesses. Steph had a breakdown later that year which has taken some time to recover from. We thought we were doing okay until we ran into the Prime Minister at the Avondale Markets. This was hugely triggering and my outburst made the news here in NZ and around the world. We have started this at the request of the many wonderful folk who have shown us love and compassion with their beautiful comments. Thank you. It is so heartening to see how many people back and support us. God bless you.

Use of funds

This money will help us with general living costs due to loss of business and our home.

May God continue to guide you through these perilous times, you have our wholehearted support. Mandates took our livelihood aswell (family of nine). God will provide a way. We must stay strong and stand together. There is more to come. When tyranny becomes law, resistance becomes duty 🙏💖.

Brendon and Steph, we came to your pop-up dinner nights in New Lynn during the madness and with friends we had the best nights ever in the restaurant and out on the lawn. We laughed and shed tears with you both and we will never forget the stand you both have made and the loss you have suffered. You stood up and pushed back when many would not, you are an inspiration to many of us. You will get through this and be better off for it, it may take some time but please know that we will be with you on that journey and that you will never be alone. You are the true heroes of the people and the reason why they say that not all superheroes wear capes. Gary & Lisa - Whenuapai

Aww thank you for your kind words. It was so worth it just to give people some sense of normality. Honestly it was the best six days of our restaurant career and we'd do it again in a heartbeat. By the way - we're neighbours ;)

Thank you Dave. We hope to see justice in the future and certainly haven't given up on this. It's just a waiting game in our opinion in terms of timing. Many thanks for your support.

Hi Jeanette, yes indeed. It's been a journey to get to this point but I am happy to say that we are feeling very at peace with life. We've let go most of the angst, well maybe not all given my reaction to Chippy but they needed to hear that :)
