Auckland

Hi,

My names Brendan im 32 years old, I live in Auckland with my Partner Anna and 4 year old daughter named Sophie.

I have MS and On the 28th Novermber 2018 I am travelling to Pigarov Clinic in moscow Russia to have a Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant in Russia (HSCT) to halt the progression of my Multiple Sclerosis.

In December 2017 I was diagnosed with RRMS after a second episode of Optic Neurtis. This latest episode has left me with permanent damage to my eyes, balance, corodination and cognative issues.

This has taken a big toll on me and my family and has left us with worries about our future. With the news that I will slowly deteriorate physically and mentally over the coming years and the realisation of the many stages of my daughters life I would miss. I could no longer look forward to key dad milestones like coaching her sports teams and teaching her to drive.

As you can see in the Gallery I have had been there for many of my daughters first monents. First fish, first christmas, first swim, first bike, first hike. I want to be there and play an active role in all the new first's coming in her life and HSCT is The Answer!

This new treatment in Russia called HSCT has provided hope to me. The results thus far have been amazing. HSCT has proven to HALT the progeression of MS entirely in 80% patients, effectivly freezing the disease. This is amazing as current treatments available in NZ only slow the progression of the disease and patients will contiune to have attacks and accumulate disability and eventually become wheelchair/bed bound and require supportive care.

HSCT cannot reverse any damage that has already been done so the key is to do it as soon as possible before you have accumulated irreversible disability.

This is my chance to stop this terrible disease now before its too late and reclaim my future. I want to be there for and be able to provide for my family for many more years. i want all the dad milestones.

Unfortuantly for us it is very expensive- Around $100,000NZD all up for the treatment and asscoiciatred costs for visas, flights and accomadation for me and my partner who will accopmany me as a carrer.

thanks for taking the time to read and we appericaten every dollar we get!

Thankyou

Brendan, Anna & Sophie

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) an in-curable progressive Neurological condition In where the bodys own immune system attacks the insulating case around the nerves in the brain and spine. the resulting damages stops the abililty of the brain to send messages to the various parts of the body which results in paralisyis. MS can also attack nerves in the eyes and ears causing vision and hearing loss or more even critical parts of the brain that control heart rate, breathing, swallowing etc etc.
