Crowd Funding for Bridget Tyson's Chemotherapy Treatment.
Whanganui, Manawatu-Wanganui
Bridget has been fiercely battling Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer over the past 2 years. She was diagnosed while pregnant with our son Mohi. At the time of her diagnosis, the cancer had metastasized to her lymphatic system and her spine which caused her to become permanently disabled. In the time since, the disease has continued spreading to her liver and now to her lungs.
Given the severity of it being present in her lungs, her oncologist has urgently recommended a chemotherapy called Abraxane (nab-Paclitaxel) which is not funded by national health care.
This treatment will be starting from this week (28th Feb).
The closest hospital that can administer it is a 2 hour commute for us.
This commute will be made once a week for 2 weeks with a 1 week gap before the next 2 week block.
The number of sessions needed will depend on how she responds to the treatment but it is estimated that she will need between 12 - 18 sessions.
Each session including travel expenses comes to $1,850 so the total for this course of treatment will be $22,200 if 12 sessions is sufficient.
Anything that you can do to help our little whānau is massively appreciated.
Thank you.
Bridget is my wife, my best friend and the mother of my son.
All funds raised will go towards Bridget's cancer treatment and travel expenses.
