Helping Bridget and her family as she fights to gain some quality of life again.
Richmond, Tasman
Hi, I'm Emma. When my mum was born, she was diagnosed with something called Pancreas Divisum, which is an abnormality of the pancreatic ducts. In 2012, she underwent an ERCP in attempt to correct the Divisum, however it failed due to complications, leaving her in ICU and hospital for 6 months, with a 5% chance of survival. Since then she had been getting severe attacks constantly, with 2 week hospital stays at at time. In 2023 another ERCP was done with the same attempt of correcting the Pancreas Divisum, however it failed again, with her staying in Christchurch hospital for 2 weeks, then being air flown to Nelson hospital for another 2 weeks. Since this, her condition has worsened, with her developing Acute Pancreatitis on a regular basis, causing further hospitalisation, and inability to work. Mum now needs major abdominal surgery of her Pancreas on the 5th of November in order to hopefully give her some quality of life for the years ahead. Despite living with this illness, up until now, Mum has continued to work hard as a Registered Nurse, giving so much to so many people when they need it most. Mum inspires me everyday with her positive outlook despite the challenges she has and continues to face. It is now our turn to take care of her. Donations will go towards travel, accomodation, and financial support for our family as Mum will be unable to work for many months ahead. Thank you for kindly supporting us during this time ❤️
I am Bridget and Richards eldest daughter, trying to relieve financial pressure during this time.
