Get Zac back to his new life. Recovery & Rehabilitation after weeks of Reflection, see the new & improved version

Bay of Plenty

Kia ora Everyone, I’ve set this page up for my one & only big brother who has recently had surgery for a Coronary Arterial Bypass Graft( i.e A heart bypass) at Waikato hospital. This is major heart operation.

Anyone that knows (E)Zac knows his bark is worse than his bite. For the last 4 years he was our Grandmother’s number 1 Caregiver. He lived with her & took care of her until her Dementia required her to be placed into a Care Facility. Sadly she passed away 3 months later. This really shook him & just when he was getting his own life back on track he ended up in hospital 3x with his heart condition. He lives alone, has never had kids of his own or a lifetime partner. He is an amazing Uncle to his 3 nephews who he adores.

Once his operation is done he is looking at least 4-6 weeks post op in hospital before he is discharged to go home. Within this timeframe I’m hoping to have all his rest, recovery & rehabilitation sorted. A Gym membership, walking shoes (size 13), some raised gardens to grow his own kai, a heart rate monitor & watch just to name a few things to get him off to the best start possible. As his Mum is based in Perth & the Trans Tasman bubble is on hold it’s unlikely she’ll be home until it re opens again safely. So it’s up to me to help him out. He’ll be 50 yrs in November & we were going to get him a Pug puppy (he’s always wanted one) for his birthday but thought about getting one earlier as his rehab pet. You’ll all agree that life will now change for the better for Ezac as this surgery will offer him a 2nd chance at a healthy life. He looks forward to embracing a positive & healthy lifelong journey. I’ve created a Facebook page for his journey too. With all his updates & news from here on in. Zac is the most loyal friend & loves his Whanau. He’s astutely clever & has a wicked sense of humour. Anybody that follows him will know about this but beware that the new & improved Zac is on the rise !

I’m his one & only Sister who loves him enough to help him out in his time of need. Because I know he’ll do it in a heartbeat for me. (Excuse the pun)

Latest Update  31 July 2021

Kia ora Koutou,

Just abit if an update for everyone who is following his journey. He is now at his house in Tauranga, after being discharged from Tauranga hospital on Wednesday. Much more sooner than we expected but the Cardiology team were happy with his progress & his recovery that they were able to let him go home. I think he was looking forward to getting into his own bed & having a good sleep.

Still finds himself getting tired & needs to not over do things. Taking it nice & slowly.

Off to see his GP on Monday to hopefully remove his stitches. Will keep you all updated. Cheers.
