Bringing Ruth home

Let me introduce you to Ruth.

Ruth has four children, all Ruths children have children, one of those also has children. Yes Ruths a Great Grandma, she's also a great sister, great Aunt and a really great mother, this fact was reiterated when her four children got together & opened a bank account in her name and for a few years put in a little money as they could afford. 10 months ago I got a call from Jakki, Ruths eldest asking if I could meet them all in Sydney as they were surprising Ruth with a trip there. They worked hard to keep the secret and it started with the requisition of her passport. At the Auckland airport they told her they were shouting her to Sydney, Ruth was so excited, even more so when she saw on the ticket son Brandyn & daughter Rebecca were going too. In Sydney they meet Jakki and other son Luke, just one wonderful surprise after the other. They took Ruth to an atm machine and gave her the card with her name on it, she put in the machine, she was blown away by her childrens generosity over $1,700..... no, look again mum... $17,000. A few days later I arrived in Sydney, I sided up to Ruth and asked how the heart was...total shock and excitement at seeing me. 😊 We had a wonderful couple of days.

The instructions that came with the money from the kids was go travel mum.

Ruth had a quick trip to Cains and then stayed home caring for an unwell friend, she then escorted her unwell friend back to her Family in England. She had a quick trip to Ireland to visit the place our grandfather grew up then back to New Zealand via Salvador City in Brazil to see another of our sisters Sister Helen, a catholic nun working & living with the poorest of the poor in Salvador City Brazil...the covid pandemic hit and that is as far as she got. She has had numerous flights cancelled and her travel insurance won't cover the cost. All the money her children worked hard to save for her is all gone. Ruth has retired so the chance of being able to save that amount to travel is 0.

Ruth is an amazing woman who deserves every bit of happiness. She has a huge family who want her home safe and sound. In her time away she has missed bithdays, the birth of another great grandchild, the funeral of a good friend but she gave her time in Salvador City to help those around her, she helped her sister and the people around them making propolis, soaps, honey and never once asked for money in return but instead loved helping her sister help the locals get the money in return for their hard work with the bee hives. They spent hours upon hours doing this to ensure the locals could continue to get money.

She is currently on her way back to NZ, Salvador City to Sao Paulo to Doha to Melbourne to Auckland...4 days til home. If you can spare a few $$ it would be really appreciated. We would love to replace the $16,000 she has lost on flights.
