Derryn asks

Hi James

Whilst we Maggie fans wait with baited breath for her arrival could she and Chop (her VBF) not write a "blog" to entertain us ?- in fact a DOGS' BLOG IS WHAT THIS WORLD NEEDS

Cheers Derryn

James

Hi Derryn,

Once we get a blog or Facebook page up and running (or possibly both as some people don't use FB) we will post the details on Maggie's Givealittle Page so you can continue to follow her journey home :-D

I am a Kiwi living in Los Angeles does Maggie have to go to a specific facility while in LA, or could she stay at a family home for her 180 days with a golden retriever called Charlie.

James

Hi Kelly. Sorry for the delay for getting back to you. Can you please email bringmaggiehome@yahoo.com :)

Hi James, I second Pamela's suggestion. Chile is an approved country for exporting animals (look up approved countries under section 5.3 in the MPI cat dog guidance document for importing pets). Santiago has direct flights and I expect a 6 month quarantine stay in Chile would be a lot cheaper than in the USA! May be worth checking it out as an option anyhow. Good luck!

James

Hi Ngaire. Thank you very much for the message. We have contacted the Pet-Relocater to ask them to look in the Chile option for us :)

Hi James, did my good friend Tim get in touch with you? He's a Kiwi living in Reynosa and as the principal of one of the biggest schools there is heavily involved in the local community (including dog rescue and re-homing). If you're unable to get Maggie back to NZ due to the financial constraints he is confident that he could find her a good home in Reynosa.

James

Hi there, no he hasn't been in contact with me yet and we would really love to see if we can raise the funds for now as we would love to have her come home with us, but thanks for reaching out to us and if things don't go as planned we can touch base with him then. What's the best way to get in contact with him? :)

Pamela asks

James, is it not possible to send Maggie from Chile as there are direct flights to Auckland from there?

James

Hi Pamela. Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately that wouldn't work as Mexico isn't an approved country to directly import dogs and cats to New Zealand because of Rabies, so Maggie has to spend 6 months in an approved country such as the USA before coming here. then another 10 days quarantine in NZ. Hope this answers your question and thank you for your suggestion and for thinking of us :)
