Bring Maggie home

A year and a half ago, on a warm summers evening, a stray dog followed my wife home from the bus stop. As they both approached our front door, I was greeted by my wife and a helpless, unhealthy, and skinny but extremely excited dog. I fetched some ham from the fridge and water so she could eat, drink, and be on her way. As I gave her a pat and a cuddle, I noticed she was covered in hundreds of ticks. My wife and I spent hours picking the ticks off her, then gave her a shower. After this, she calmly walked over to the doorstep, and being exhausted, she tucked herself down to sleep.

The next day, we began to search for people willing to adopt her, but to no avail. As days went by, it was clear to my wife and myself that she would soon become our dog.

Since that fateful day, Maggie has become our family dog, and has helped me push through some of the toughest and lowest times in my life. I had never intended on getting a dog in Mexico as our time would eventually come to an end. That time has arrived. We are heading back to New Zealand in March 2017, and Maggie wants to come back with us.

Please help me bring Maggie home.

The cost of bringing Maggie back is extremely expensive because Mexico is a non-approved country. Here is what we have been quoted by an approved pet-relocator:

Moving Maggie from Monterrey, Mexico to Los Angeles including vaccinations, boarding, air freight, customs etc: $5000USD

Boarding 180 days in USA for import requirements: $5700USD

Management of all vet visits while in the USA: $2500

Move from USA to Auckland including air freight, customs, permits, etc: $4500.
