Please help me to get to New York City to participate in Broadway Dance Centre's three-month intensive dance program!
Canterbury
I have recently been accepted into Broadway Dance Centre's International Student Visa Program, a three-month intensive dance course in the heart of New York City, but I need your help to cover flight and tuition costs (approx. $4800). I will be leaving on November 24th 2016 and returning late February 2017.
In mid-2015, Jim Cooney from BDC visited NASDA while he was in New Zealand as a judge for the NZ Dance Awards. He explained how the ISVP worked, and what benefits it could have for us in our future careers. He then took a class in the genre he teaches at BDC: Musical Theatre Dance. I found his style of teaching incredibly inspiring. His energy and passion were so exciting that he was able to lift the talent and ability in the room to new heights in just a one-hour class. I want to be surrounded by that energy and passion so that I can grow as a dancer and become the strongest performing artist I can be.
I am working towards a career in musical theatre. I wish to be involved in many areas of it during my life including performing, directing, choreographing and writing. I believe Broadway Dance Centre will give me the head start I need as an emerging professional artist, supplying the tools and training I need to set myself apart. I want to become a technically and physically impressive dancer with the ability to captivate and entertain an audience, and I believe BDC is the perfect place for me to develop that.
I expect to arrive back in New Zealand with not only greater technique and ability, but freshly inspired and eager to share my experience with the theatre community of Christchurch.
