Brodie goes Barefoot

I'm Brodie, and I've been nominated for the 2015 Aspiring Leaders Forum. I'm taking some bold, and barefoot, steps to fundraise for the conference, as well as promote awareness about the harsh reality of homelessness in New Zealand.

The Aspiring Leaders Forum this year is based on faith and values, and the itinerary is focussed on using leadership to promote positive change in your community. Values I personally hold dear are those of compassion, empathy, and social justice.

A count last year shows homelessness has more than doubled in the CBD area since 2013.

This winter there will be more people than ever feeling the cold, and one place they will be feeling it is on their feet! To put myself in their shoes (or lack of), I will be going without for a month in the wind, cold and rain. Simultaneously a shoe-drive will be hosted for Auckland City Mission, where you can drop off your old shoes to be distributed amongst the homeless.

Your generous donations will be going towards the cost of attending the Aspiring Leaders Conference and travel expenses.

Aucklanders have a bad rap for dragging their heels instead of helping those in need, please sponsor me so I can continue helping people on the backfoot in our community.
