The bike track has a new name - the Tawatawa-Vogelmorn Bike Track! Local Iwi have offered Tawatawa to reflect the history of the site. Tawatawa is the name of the ridge which extends from Brooklyn to Island Bay.
Work on the asphalt track is now complete! Judging by the number of families there last weekend and the number of bikes and scooters at school this week the track is getting great use already!
We’re working hard fundraising towards phase two, the skills and pump track. THANK YOU to those who have contributed to our Givealittle page or one of our other fundraising efforts!
You can help further by spreading the word on the following:
· Share the link to our Givealittle fundraising page with your networks and encourage them to make a contribution. http://bit.ly/2GrlRdd
· Buy a slice of cake from the kids’ cake baking competition at Saturday’s Brooklyn Community Market 2-5pm – all proceeds will go towards the bike track. You can also visit our display stand to see what the skills and pump tracks will look like.
· Come along to our special screening of family movie Early Man on Wednesday 4 April at the Empire Cinema in Island Bay. Book your tickets via this google doc http://bit.ly/2FNs7j2
· Lastly, get in quick to buy a ticket in our fantastic bike raffle which we’ll be drawing next week. Tickets are on sale after school (this is the last week) as well as at the Brooklyn Community Market on Saturday afternoon.
And if you’re keen to take an e-bike for a spin on the track, head along to Vogelmorn Bowling Club 4-5.30pm before this Sunday’s Community Dinner (25th March). You’ll be able to find out more about the project and fundraising opportunities while you’re there. Email vogelmornbc@gmail.com if you’re planning to stay for dinner as numbers are limited.
