Can we get a WWII veteran back into the aircraft he flew 75 years ago?
Canterbury
Bryan Cox is one of New Zealand's most well known and respected pilots, and he's also believed to be New Zealand's oldest licenced pilot.
Russell Brodie owns ex-RNZAF de Havilland Tiger Moth NZ1443, an aircraft that Bryan actually flew during his flying training with the RNZAF in 1943. Russell would like to get Bryan up again in his Tiger Moth and allow him to once again fly the same aircraft he flew 75 years ago.
The aircraft is based at Rangitata Island in Canterbury, and Bryan is based in Tauranga. This fundraiser is to get Bryan from Tauranga to Christchurch (and back) to make this happen!
*** UPDATE!!! ***
Thanks to everyone who kindly contributed to the fundraiser. Bryan's flight is planned to go ahead at Rangitata Island Aerodrome, South Canterbury, on Sunday the 1st of July 2018. If you are interested in being there you're welcome to come along on the day. We will also be hosting a special event the day before at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand at Wigram in Christchurch.
