Given by 21 generous donors in 10 weeks

Assist Nepal families who not only lost their homes in the devastating earthquake but also their livelihood from trekking guiding.

Auckland

I am Bryan, a small-time builder based in Auckland. My wife, Rodnie, and I trekked to Annapurna Base Camp in October 2014, an adventure both challenging and exhilarating. We were struck by the warm-hearted people and their gentle culture. I like to say I never met a Nepalese person I did not like. We befriended our guide and when he lost his home and belongings in the earthquakes, we raised money and I went to Nepal in October last year to help rebuild his house. The story of that adventure and its surprising outcome is described in https://www.facebook.com/Bryan-and-Rodnies-Nepal-Project-133343340347173/timeline/?ref=bookmarks if you are interested.

While in Nepal I was approached by the management of the trekking company, Himalayan Experience, who pleaded with me to raise more funds to help the families of three guides who work for the company.

You see, they have all lost their homes in remote villages, two families lost their mother in the earthquake. Not only that, there's no work to speak of in guiding now, even a year later, as foreign trekkers are staying away in droves out of fear for their safety and because many of the lodges they use are destroyed.

Here's the story of of these three guides, told in their own words:

Gyan Bahadur Tamang. Trekking guide Himalayan Experience Travel.

My name is Gyan Bahadur Tamang. I live in Dhading District, Dharka Village Development Committee Ward 9. I am one victim of earthquake. I lost my mother on that natural disaster. This is her photo.

Bimal Basnet. Trekking guide Himalayan Experience Travel.

My name is Bimal Basnet. I live in Solukhumbu District, Bung Village Development Committee, Ward 1, Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal.

I am one victim of earthquake in Nepal. My house and all cattle's are collapse. In that time I was in trekking but my family got big problem in that time. I heard massage from village about the situation of my family. Mother got head injury and father got leg fracture, you can imagine how was my situation in that time, I was very far from house and family but I heard that very sad news from the villagers but I hadn't any way for rescue of my family in that time because I was trekking ith group. After the trekking I went my house all are collapse. After the earthquake all the land structure are seems dangerous. Landslides is the major problem in my village. I must shift from that village to next because of the new landslide.

Dear all of you I would like to request for support for my critical situation. I will feel relief if I can build new settlement for my parent. Here is my picture.....

Shantosh Dharel. Trekking guide Himalayan Experience Travel

My name is Shantosh Dharel. I live in Dhading District, Tripureshowar Village Development Committee, Ward 4, Bagmati Zone, Nepal. I am one victim of earthquake in Nepal. I lose all my cattles and my house. I lost my dear mother. Luckily I was in the home town in that day. After the earthquake the village seems as battleground. All the houses fall down, damages house and villagers shouting seems as bombarding zone. I was the leaving death body in that time because I lost my mother in front.

Now I am going to make temporary house for my rest five family members. I am the major feeding source for my family but I am a trekking guide but now is no work.

I am looking some helping hands for my reconstruction house.
