Funding to support the capital costs of building new tracks, upgrading and extending shuttle roads, carparking and other park infrastructure
Warkworth, Auckland
Twenty plus years of glorious (and at times muddy...) downhill riding & racing at the original Kraak Road park came to an end in February 2026 when the trees were felled, in advance of work beginning on the Warkworth to Te Hana Motorway extension.
The great news is that we have secured another site nearby, courtesy of the awesome team at Matariki Forests, and are underway with not only the process of rehoming AKDH but expanding into more enduro style riding (including eMTB) and in the longer run XC as well.
We have been granted a ~100ha blank canvas to work with - a recently harvested valley with >200m of elevation to play with. Jeff Carter of South Star Trails has designed our initial DH line, and the club members and volunteers will build alongside Jeff and his team to see this trail up and running in late Spring / early summer 2026. But to do so we need the communities support with funding...
Alongside the cost of utilising world-renowned trail builders like Jeff and his team, we also have significant roading and infrastructure works required, which are currently underway. Your donations will help us fund digger and machinery hire, drainage materials, road metal and construction materials for the new hub.
The sooner we have the funds; the sooner bikes will be rolling downhill again and with news coming thick and fast about other bike parks closing or impacted by forestry harvesting, this can't come soon enough for the riding community.
Stage 1: Build the primary DH line (South Star Trails) - targeted finish early summer 26
Stage 2: Roading, parking and key infrastructure - targeted finish early summer 26
Stage 3: Secondary DH lines, Enduro trails and climb tracks - 2027
All funds raised will go towards utilising world-renowned trail builders like Jeff and his team, and towards funding digger and machinery hire, drainage materials, road metal and construction materials for the new hub.
