Building Franklin’s Future Hospice

Every day, Franklin Hospice supports local people and whānau facing life-limiting illness with free specialist palliative care, practical support, compassion, and guidance.

Our care reaches far beyond medical support alone. We walk alongside families through some of life’s most difficult moments — providing comfort, dignity, bereavement support, education, and reassurance when it is needed most. We care for people in their homes, in the community, and wherever they feel safest and most comfortable.

But Franklin is one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing regions, and demand for hospice services continues to increase. To meet the future needs of our community, we are building a new purpose-built hospice hub for Franklin.

This new facility will create a welcoming, modern space designed to support patients, families, staff, volunteers, and the wider community for generations to come. It will allow us to expand services, improve accessibility, provide dedicated family and bereavement spaces, and future-proof specialist hospice care locally.

Hospice care is free for patients and families, but it is not free to provide. Around half of Franklin Hospice’s funding comes directly from the generosity of our community. Every donation, no matter the size, helps bring this vision to life. Together, we can build a future hospice hub our community can be proud of — ensuring compassionate care remains available locally for generations to come.
