Tamariki School is needing to make changes to the existing building, and we need your help.
Canterbury
Tamariki School is needing to make changes to the existing building for a few reasons, outlined below.
The budgeted cost for the building extension work has gone up significantly from our April 2015 estimate by the architect. We are very close to having sufficient funds to complete the extension project, but will be actively searching for grants and fundraising to provide some reserves, and to fund the final phase of the project (resealing the carpark and landscaping) which may need to be delayed.
Reasons for the building extension work
· A larger space for the new entrants that spend time in Mary’s room
· Dedicated office for Di, to better support her in her role as principal
· Larger kitchen space to allow baking activities to occur alongside lunch preparation
· Extra breakout spaces for the children to pursue different activities
· Dedicated staff room that will provide space for small meetings and planning activities outside of a thoroughfare, along with giving staff an area to have refreshing breaks
· Dedicated reception /admin office, that will also provide desk space for other community members to do activities in a bit of quiet e.g. organize a trip or apply for a grant
· meet the space guidelines required by the Ministry of Education
· Sufficient space for growing our roll back to the maximum of 60 children
PLEASE DONATE TO OUR BUILDING EXTENSION PROJECT - see Project.
There is a strong emphasis on developing a child's emotional strength at Tamariki, and a belief that no learning can come without it. There is also a strong emphasis on children learning through play. This results in emotionally intelligent and self-confident children with a curiosity for learning.
