Replace the builders' tools burgled from Newton Central Primary School.
Kingsland, Auckland
Kia ora All,
Last Thursday night, burglars broke in to Newton Central School and stole the majority of the workmen's tools. Not satisfied with this haul, they then broke into the adjoining new entrants' classrooms and raided the teachers' desks and cupboards, stealing a variety of personal items and school property.
While the school has insurance cover, the builders, Ethan and Michael, do not, and they have been devastated by the loss of tools critical to their work refurbishing the boys' wharepaku (toilets). Fortunately Ethan has been able to borrow some tools necessary to continue work, but this is only a short-term solution. We'd really like to them to have the resources to purchase new tools and get back to full strength.
The children, teachers, and wider community of Te Uru Karaka are naturally very upset by the burglary, and want to help the builders get their tools back.
Please, if at all possible, donate some funds to the cause, and show Ethan and Michael how much we appreciate what they're doing for the kura and our tamariki.
Any amount is fine! $5 is welcome-just whatever you can manage. It will all be very much appreciated by our hard-working builders.
I am a father of two children who attend the school. I met them when I heard about the burglary. I understand from the Headmaster and the staff that they are lovely people.
Purchasing new tools and hardware so the building work can continue
Final push! 1 June 2025
Thanks so much to those who have donated!
We are nearly at $2k, which is just fantastic. The builders are absolutely stoked with your generosity.
If you know anyone who might still be willing to donate, please pass this on to them.
Tom

Thanks so much for your kindness! Tom
Thanks Joel, I completely agree. It's a low blow, and I hope they can get themselves out of the mess they are in. Thanks very much for your generosity-the builders are stoked!
