6 weeks post op!
7 May 2015So another update on Teresa’s progress, those following Tee on Facebook will be aware that she has had a home leave and is going home soon!!! She is making amazing progress.
Of course with coming home and continuing her rehab there are a lot of changes to be made to their lifestyle and their home. As you may be aware not only has Teresa been off work, but Andrew hasn’t been working either (he has been living with Tee at Hearty Towers) and although you can plan for these things, you cant plan for everything. Add to that the need for ongoing rehab, which means a treadmill at home, the cost of driving back and forward to Greenlane hospital 3 times a week and Auckland once a week for tests, procedures and checkups with the trainers at the gym, parking at the hospitals ($300 in 2 weeks!!) which adds up and then the interesting one….the immune suppression drugs are making her put on weight. To date she has put on 6kg and has had to buy new trackpants so far. Also with a scar from left armpit to right armpit, she cannot wear a normal bra so has to go out and buy special sports type bras that wont compromise the scarring.
So the reality is, any help you can give is going to be very appreciated and with her immune system being compromised, is probably a bit more practical than a casserole or pot of soup, as things are and will continue to be a battle for a while as Teresa concentrates on healing and Andrew helps her along the way….
Please consider keeping those donations rolling in, every single dollar helps!
