My name is Byron Raubenheimer, I am a right leg amputee working to get to the Paralympics in Rio 2016, as a track cyclist.
Nationwide
I started cycling early 2014 and have shown great potential over the last few months. My coaches have urged me to attend as many events as possible, this will see me competing in two international events in Invercargill, NZ, and Melbourne, Australia. Doing well in these two events will see me heading to Holland to compete in my first Para-cycling World Champs event in March, 2015. Succeeding in these events will be crucial as it will see me become a funded kiwi athlete allowing more focus on training and hopefully see me attend the Paralympics in Rio, 2016.
The struggle for me at this point is trying to reach the funding ladder as I am paying my own way which is hard for me as the events are all so near and close together.
Getting through the next few months will be really beneficial for me in the long term and I would really appreciate any help I receive.
Thanks,
Byron
Facebook Page 19 August 2014
Hey everyone, just posted a facebook page to allow everyone to monitor my progress over the coming months and keep updated with what Im doing. I made a post last week (Aug 11-18) but it somehow hasn't appeared saying I will match every dollar I raise that week with 1Km on the bike km before the end of August. I raised $672 last week so I am hard at work trying to get through all those Kms! You can track my progress on my Facebook page too! https://www.facebook.com/byronraubenheimercyclist?ref=ts&fref=ts
