Hi, I’m Carl. I recently experienced how cruel life is for a battery hen. It was a difficult protest but I managed to highlight their plight in the media, including on Close Up. Now I’m raising funds to continue to help caged hens so check the Updates page below for a full list of the mementos I am giving away.

MEMENTOS AND GOODIES YOU CAN WIN!  10 May 2011

All money donated goes towards SAFEfs NoCages campaign to help battery hens. If you donate you go into the draw to win one of my special mementos that were part of my caged protest. You also go into receiving one of 3 of SAFEfs cool Let the Chickenfs Out tee shirts 1: The eDay XXf sign which was taped to the outside of the cage. It still has the number 31 on it, which has been taped over to prevent the whiteboard marker rubbing off. 2: The original hand-drawn Diagrams/plans for the cage. Battered, but legible. 3: The handwritten eBattle Planf (ie: eTo Do Listf) for getting the vigil set up. Some names have been erased to preserve anonymity for the individuals. Battered, but legible. 4: The front section of the Otago Daily Times newspaper which had my story on the front cover. I kept this particular copy of it in my cage for nearly the whole protest, and showed it to visitors. 5: The poster of New Zealand battery hens which adorned my wall inside the cage through most of the vigil. Battered, but intact. Still has some egg stuck to it from when I was attacked with eggs! 6: Handwritten notes from my notebook (an old 1976 diary!) which I used to construct my Facebook posts, emails, & video blogs. 7:Ten autographed photos of the vigil, with descriptive captions on the back. 8: A printed copy of Anonymous Memoir of a Battery Caged Chicken An article I read which ultimately inspired my protest. Signed, and with a hand written story describing why and how this inspired me. 9: A copy of the letter I sent to property owners in Waikouaiti, asking for permission to use their land. (Names crossed out to preserve anonymity). Signed, with a hand written description of how and why I chose the site for my protest. Thanks so much. You can visit my http://tinyurl.com/3lkk2tt"" Facebook page to find out more about my campaign. Peace. Carl.
