Support for Calib and his Family with his Leukemia Journey
Napier, Hawke's Bay
At just 16 years old, Calib has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). AML is an aggressive form of blood and bone marrow cancer that requires intensive chemotherapy to treat.
Calib’s journey to recovery is going to be tough. He will undergo treatment at Starship Hospital in Auckland for approximately six months.
As you can imagine, this diagnosis came as a complete shock to Calib and his family. His immediate family will need to travel and temporarily relocate from Napier to Auckland to support him through this incredibly challenging time.
I’ve set up this Givealittle page to help ease the financial burden on Calib’s whānau—helping cover travel, accommodation, and day-to-day expenses, so they can focus on what matters most: being there for Calib during his treatment and recovery.
For anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Calib, you’ll know he has a bright, positive outlook on life and loves a good chat. He’s full of personality and appreciates the little joys and finer things in life.
Calib and his family understand that times are tough, and they ask that any donations are made only if you are in a position to do so. A supportive message or kind words for Calib means just as much and would truly lift his spirits during this journey.
Thank you for your love, support, and kindness. 💛

Update 🙌 9 September 2025
✨ Big news ✨
Calib’s latest bone marrow results — the big Aussie ones after round 3 — are back and they show no detectable leukemia 💛
We’re looking at around another two weeks and then Calib can finally say goodbye to the four walls of the hospital. It’s been a massive journey, but seeing the finish line is the best feeling.
In Calib’s words: F@ck Cancer 💪🎗️
