Beating cancer with a little help from friends
Hamilton, Waikato
My friend and colleague, Gareth, is living with an extremely rare blood cancer and the best chance of recovery is a stem cell transplant. Thankfully, Gareth has been thrown a lifeline by an amazing donor match found in Australia, with the transplant date set to take place in this month (October 2024).
Following the transplant, Gareth will be living in isolation for approximately 12 months with a carer helping him. While in isolation, the non-negogiable caregiver, and all meals, have to be paid for by Gareth and his family. This on top of the fact that he won’t be employed during that time, adding extra stress to an already tough time with bills continuing for his family surviving on one income and trying to cover the shortfalls.
We understand that financially everyone is stretched right now. Those not able to donate, we would be grateful if you could share this page.
Thank you! Your help is appreciated
