Romeo is in need of a MRI and Spine surgery at a vet specialist. So he can play and enjoy life again!
Auckland
Hi my names Romeo! I'm a 18 month old Rottweiler. My Mum has asked me to write something on here to help us out.
I've been to the vets a lot for my young age. As a young boy I lost all my tan bits and was really itchy. I had a condition called follicular lipidosis along with Skin allergies. Which are all sorted now, but I'm not allowed to eat beef!
Now Mum says I have to be careful and I'm not allowed off the lead on my walks cause I keep falling over and I could end up doing some serious damage.
I cant get traction on certain surfaces or keep my balance. My back legs are very weak.
This is due to a condition called Wobblers syndrome. Which apparently means I have something squeezing my spinal cord in my neck, causing the bad mobility in my hind legs.
I'm on the waiting list for a MRI to find out what exactly is going on, which is going to cost $4064.80 →$4251.38. Then I will need to have a very serious surgery on my cervical spine to help me. This could cost between $10,000-$15,000.
Mum is concerned as this will cost a lot of money. I have insurance but the cost for the surgery will exceed her limit. She loves me very much and I want to be around as long as possible to look after her.
I really do miss playing with my friends on the beach. Cant wait to play again soon.
My Mum helps care for other animals every day. It would be nice if someone could help us out now.
Love and Licks
Romeo xx
