Support Alice's drug treatment costs for breast cancer.
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
Hi friends and family,
It’s Ross here, Alice’s husband.
I want to share some sad news and a quick update about what my amazing wife has been through over the past two months.
September 4th: Alice’s GP called and confirmed the devastating news—she has breast cancer. The diagnosis: aggressive HER2-positive cancer. Her treatment plan includes six rounds of chemo, surgery, and four months of radiation.
The journey has been tough. Chemo started eight weeks after diagnosis, bringing severe side effects—insomnia, joint pain, nose bleeds, vomiting, nausea, and exhaustion. Two weeks in, we had to shave her hair, a deeply emotional moment for our family. Shortly after, a secondary biopsy revealed cancer in her lymph nodes.
Alice’s oncologist recommended a drug called Pertuzumab to improve treatment outcomes, but it isn’t publicly funded here in New Zealand yet. The cost is $35,963 NZD (232,254 kr). While it’s a significant financial challenge, we chose to prioritize Alice’s health and started treatment with an $8,623 initial double dose.
Now, Alice is on her second round of chemo, facing even tougher side effects. Today, she’s undergoing a procedure to track chemo’s impact on her lymph node tumor.
If you’d like to support Alice’s drug treatment costs, donations via the link provided would mean the world to us. Words of encouragement are just as appreciated and will lift her spirits during this fight.
Thank you for your love and support.
Ross

Round 3 Update 17 December 2024
I would like to say thank you to all those that have made a contribution so far and shown Alice some love by getting behind her Breast Cancer journey. It all makes a big difference.
She is on number 3 round of Chemo/Pertuzumab right now. The days 3-8 after each round are what we have been calling "Hell week". This is when she is in the most discomfort and pain. Random nose bleeds, joint pain, Nausea, list goes on.
Alice said to me the other night, "I don't know if I can keep going with this chemo treatment ". She is the toughest woman I know and for her to say that, means a lot of discomfort she is in from the Chemo treatment.
Alice has three more rounds and each cycle is like a roller coaster, about day 10-11 after each round she will start to bounce back health wise, sort of ready physically/ mentally for the next round on day 21..(chemo every three weeks).
Thanks again for the support. Means a lot that you have her back and Alice has enjoyed the messages of support.
Her next round is on the 27th of December, so we will be able to enjoy a nice Christmas day with close family visiting.
Merry Christmas to you and your families.
Ross, Alice and our kids.
