Tomairangi 's car was stolen and set on fire right next to the Rotorua bandroom. She needs a car to set her life back on track.
Bay of Plenty
Recently, our band suffered the devastating loss of the bandroom by arson.
We are not the only ones affected by this act of violence.
Tomairangi, a young nursing student, was starting a new life when one evening a
stranger broke into her grandmother’s property and stole her car. He then drove to
Rotorua, parked the car behind the bandroom, and set it alight. It was found next to
the bandroom, completely destroyed by fire. The car & its contents were
unrecoverable.
Tomairangi’s car was uninsured.
Some of the band members met Tomairangi at the court sentencing of the offender
and heard her read her victim impact statement. It was heartrending.
We are now fundraising to buy a Car4Tomairangi - a lifeline to continue her studies,
and care for whanau members, including her nephew.
If you are able to donate, thank you ❤️
Below is the Rotorua Daily Post article of the arson.
