Beautiful Molly has been hit by a car, and needs an operation. I need help to find the money to pay for it.
Wellington
Molly (pictured looking startled with her sister Captain) has been hit by a car. The vet is trying to get a good deal for an operation. I am trying to see if I can pay for it. I will get the operation regardless as her pelvis has been broken completely in bits and her leg shunted up into her guts. The vet says she can survive and will have mobility and will have an excellent chance if I get the operation to pin it back together. She will have mobility after a long period if I just give her cage rest; but in a rougher part of town where the dogs and cats roam, I need to know my cat can get in the cat door or climb a tree when needed.
I own the cat that got hit.
The funds will be used to pay the surgeon.
My understanding is that the vet care is $1,000
The operation is between $2500 and $3500. The vet doesn't think it will be over this, he is confident that this is a fair estimate.
I will be travelling if necessary and buying sundries like cages I guess... I don't know about that side of things. But obviously I will pay whatever that costs.
I can handle the vet, I can handle the cage and such. I really just need help with the operation.
Molly home! 9 June 2017
Molly's home from her operation! She's had the operation on Tuesday and over here it's Friday evening now; so much for studying for my exam... :D
Anyway I've just about taken the end of my finger off setting up this killer cage; but she's in, and I've put the heat pump to keep the room around 20 degrees celsius, I hope that's good enough for her. She's a bit bald...
They set her fracture, and it seems it was her left pelvis, I had thought it was the right. So she wasn't lying on the broken side at the vet's the other day; she was lying on the not-broken side.
I've seen her try to use her left leg to scratch but it just wobbles. I hope it works again. here she is in the rental cage from the vet!
So far costs have been:
My vet: $400.
This operation $2425
I still have 2 vet checkups, and paying for the crate to go. checkup 1 at my vet, checkup 2 at the surgery at six weeks.
I have all manner of pills I am supposed to manage to get into her. That is the most terrifying thing for me right now. i have to keep her in a cage full time for six weeks, and feed her pills twice a day.
Oh, and her sister ran away from her. After all that meowing, her flipping sister has run off outside and not come back in. After sicking up on my bed last night, on the feather duvet not the easy to wash blanket.
But hey. My baby's home. Now for six weeks of crazy, and then it will be all over.
PS it's too hard to put more than 1 pic here in the updates section. I'll put pics of molly in the gallery section. :)
