Support Caribbeanz Southern Stars Steelband. Fire destroyed all instruments, equipment, and more. Donate to help rebuild & revive the music.
Auckland
The Caribbeanz Southern Stars Steelband, the first full steelband orchestra in Aotearoa New Zealand has just lost all its musical instruments, equipment, music scores, notes, shirts, decorations, drum kits and everything else in a fire that destroyed the Marist Rugby club house where all the band's belongings were housed.
The Caribbeanz Southern Stars Sleelband is immensely grateful to the Marist Rugby Club house for providing a practice home for us over the last two years. We commiserate with them at the loss of their memorabilia of photos, trophies etc. We are relieved that no one was hurt in the fire.
The band has performed all over the motu and in Australia. We have played at Council events, corporate functions, and everywhere you can think of - Rotorua, Christchurch, Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and many more cities.
We have enjoyed bringing the happy traditional music of the Caribbean to the Pacific nation of Aotearoa and the sunshine and smiles that accompany our music. This is our 18th year and we were looking forward to celebrating our 20th anniversary in 2025. We still are, but we need your support.
If you can, and we know it's Christmas and times are tight, but if you can, please donate what you can to help us purchase new instruments and get the magical sounds of Caribbean steelpan music back again in Aotearoa.
I am the co-treasurer and a band member. Also one of the founders, former chair/president. We are the Caribbeanz Southern Stars Steelband and we spread the vibrant music of the Carribean across Auckland and share the rich tapestry of our culture.
Your donations make dreams sing again! Help the steelband rise from the ashes. Funds will bring back their instruments, equipment, scores, shirts, & more. Let's rebuild the melody & keep the spirit of Caribbean music alive in Aotearoa!
