Carson requires brain surgery in London - help us fund his treatment - not available in NZ

    We would like to say a very big thank you to everybody who has supported us through this very traumatic time for Carson and his family and friends.

    We are all back at home now and ready to pick up where we had left things in Palmerston North.

    Carson is feeling great and is back at work and will be starting back at school next week.

    Carson will be having regular check ups with the neurologists in Wellington and we hope will get the all clear in 3-4 years time (which is the length of time we're told will take for his brain to heal).

    Physio will be part of Carson's life until his limp, which was a consequence to having the brain aneurism, is rehabilitated.

    This picture is of Carson at the top of the highest building in Dubai, which is where we stopped on the way home. A truly beautiful place.

    We got to see some wonderful sights while we were on this journey. We will cherish these moments forever.

    So thank you again everybody, we couldn't have done this without you...

  • We're Coming Home

    We will be flying out of Heathrow Airport on 15 January.

    It has been a very long ordeal to get the treatment for Carson.

    We would like to thank everyone for their love and support through this very difficult time.

    We now have to wait for Carson's Gamma Knife treatment to take affect and see how effective his operation has been. We are very confidant that Carson will be able to go back to a normal life.

    He will have to have regular checkups with the neurosurgeons in Wellington and MRI scans. The healing process will take up to 4 years.

    We have had some amazing support from so many people.

    I would like to thank each and everyone of them.

    You are amazing.

    Carson is doing well.

    We are looking forward to his next operation on 4 January.

  • Update After Carson's First Operation

    Carson has been recovering well after his first operation, better than we expected 😀.

    Prior to the operation he was getting headaches every day, now he is not getting any👍.

    He does however have a limp in his right leg which happened at the time of the brain bleed but seems to have gotten a little worse, with his right arm being affected too😡.

  • Confirmed Date

    We have a confirmed date of 29 September for Carson's first surgery with a series of tests the day before. We will be flying out this weekend.

    His 2nd surgery is scheduled for 3 January but this will be confirmed closer to the time.

    We would like to say a very special thank you to everyone that has donated, this would not be possible without you.

    We feel incredibly blessed to have had so much support and love from everyone.

  • PNBHS Father & Son Breakfast

  • Another Small Update

    We had our meeting with the neurosurgeon from Wellington on Monday 14 August.

    Unfortunately we did not get any further information about when Carson will be going to London.

    Reuben Johnson is still trying to get some funding out of the Health Department, this is our real hold up.

    We have been given some updated costs which is £35,000 per operation.

    Two operations three months apart totalling £70,000.

    This is $149,326.10 in New Zealand dollars as of today.

    We will need to be in London for more than 3 months.

    Today I am amending our target to $150,000.

    I would like to thank everybody who has donated so far & some of the truly beautiful comments people have left. We have had great support from the New Zealand public, which is the real Kiwi way.

  • Masport Mackenzie R10000 Wood Fire & Flue System - kindly donated by Masport NZ

    We have kindly been donated a brand new in the box Masport Mackenzie R10000 Wood Fire & Flue System from Brad Hale of Masport Heating New Zealand for the purpose of selling on to raise funds for Carson Harvey's Journey.

    This wood fire I believe is the best available wood fire in New Zealand. I have been using one for the last 6 years & absolutely love it. This is a huge wood fire & can be installed in most parts of New Zealand.

    This package has a retail value of $4,598.00 and we would love to raise as much to this value as we can but at the end of the day if we are made a good offer we will definitely let it go for less.

    The wood fire will come with all of the Manufacturers warranty's as it would if purchased from any retailer. The Wood Fire is located in Palmerston North & shipping can be arranged to anywhere in New Zealand at the buyers cost.

    You will need to remember that this is a very large fire & will need to be installed in a suitably large area.

    I was going to list this on Trade Me but their fees are too high & I would prefer the money goes to Carson Harvey's Journey than to Trade Me.

  • Just a small update

    I have just been given an appointment with Reuben Johnson, the neuro surgeon in Wellington. The appointment is for 14 August.

    I don't have any details yet but we are hoping to be given dates for the operation in London at this time.

    We are also hoping to have light shed on other details involved as everything at this time is basically an unknown.

    Otherwise I don't have any other details to share at this time.

    I would like to take this opportunity to say a very big thank you to all who have donated and have showed there love and support.

    We are still a long way off from our goal so if you could share this with you family and friends that would be very much appreciated.

    We have just started a Facebook page called Carson Harvey's Journey so we can document everything and keep people in the loop with his progress.
