Help us find a new home! A dry home, which will help my son who has a heart issue, and my daughter who has had pneumonia several times.
Auckland
We have less than 3 weeks to vacate our home. We need to try and find enough funds for bond, a new fridge (ours leaks, or freezes everything), and more importantly, an actual rental property. There's hardly any thing on the market within our price range (even living on the edge, five kids eat a lot of food).
If you'd rather contact me by email than through here, please email me at fiona.m.cartwright@gmail.com.
I’m Fiona, I’m nearly 34 and a single mother of five beautiful children. I have Asperger’s Syndrome and Recurring Major Depressive disorder, which makes it hard for me to find adequate work. My children are twins Radhe and Bhakti aged 13, Nitya aged 11, nearly 12, Veda aged 9, and Oliver, aged four.
Four out of my five have a myriad of issues between them, which means that a lot of my time is spent constantly monitoring them, taking them to appointments, and giving them extra help. My twin daughters no longer spend time with their father, and my middle child is starting to resist visitations with him.
• Oliver has a hold in one of his systolic valves, which may mean surgery. Our current home, which we have to vacate before April 21st, isn't heated or insulated, which has meant he's suffered from many respiratory infections.
• Bhakti has just come out of hospital suffering with Anorexia Nervosa, depression, and general anxiety disorder. She has suspected ASD, which won’t be assessed until she is mentally and physically stable. Bhakti needs weekly therapy sessions, sometimes more.
• Radhe was diagnosed with ASD (High Functioning) and Dyspraxia at the age of 6. She was non-verbal until she started primary school, and still struggles with verbal communication. She suffers greatly from sensory issues and has a low tolerance for anything that she considers distressing to her, which results in a lot of aggression and tension.
• Nitya was diagnosed at age 5 with ASD (Asperger’s), ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorder. Although she is a bright child, she has a lot of sensory issues and needs constant monitoring. She is also partially deaf, which makes management of her even harder.
Where do I want to be in a year? I want to get off the benefit. I am currently working part-time as an admin assistant, and also studying a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science (Biodiversity Management).
For everyone who donates, I'm going to put their names across the bumper of the van to show our appreciation for their help :-)
I'm their mum, and it's scary living on the edge. No one should have to do so.
Pay bond, or even purchase a new, warm, dry, insulated home.
