Cataract surgery for Tigger

  • END DATE TO BE EXTENDED

      14 January 2022

I require end date to be extended as I still have the loan with interest for the cataract surgery for Tigger. Due to covid and lockdowns this ruined most of my fundraising efforts so Give A Little is needed to give people a place to still donate. There is still over 12 months to go on the loan so it would be good to have end date extended to allow donations to assist with repayment of the loan.

  • REOPEN PAGE AS NO ACCESS TO COMPUTER WHEN IT CLOSED

      16 October 2021

I have requested page to be reopened as I do not own a computer and no internet access at home and with lockdown I could not get to library to use computer to extend closing date. Still paying back loan with interest for cataract surgery so donations are still needed to assist with repayments.

  • THANKYOU TO EVERYBODY THAT HAS ASSISTED WITH THIS CAUSE

      24 December 2020

Thankyou to everybody that has assisted with this cause. I am very grateful for all the donations, sponsorship, items to sell and vouchers donated to raise funds to cover cataract surgery and associated costs.

The cataract surgery was successful and eyesight restored (with the entire cataract removed and an artificial lens inserted).

Fortunately there were no complications and no side effects or issues after the surgery. However Tigger did have a freak accident which was a very stressful time for Tigger and the urgent veterinary care that was needed.

This also caused alot of strain on me including financially which has been very hard to deal with especially with permanent chronic physical medical conditions. Despite the horrendous situation fortunately the eye was not affected and the medication and treatment the eye specialist recommended assisted with healing quickly.

I am also very grateful to the finance company that covered the loan for cataract surgery and extended the loan to cover additional costs I incurred with Tigger as well as car repairs (the brakes pads went on my vehicle on the way to taking Tigger to Wellington for surgery!).

I am also very grateful to the person who loaned me money (to be paid back but no interest attached) that covered costs such as accommodation, travel to Wellington, pre surgery medication, etc.

Any money raised is being used to pay back the personal loan and to cover the weekly loan repayments which finished in January 2023.

  • FUNDRAISING CONTINUES TO COVER MONEY BORROWED

      14 December 2020

Hi the closing date has changed as I had to borrow money for Tigger's cataract surgery as well as additional funds for unexpected costs so loans that I took out were extended over longer period and interest attached.

Due to the lockdown and covid restrictions fundraising was temporarily suspended and i could not access Give A Little page as libraries were closed. but n

Now up and running again. Even though the pressure has been taken off as got cataract surgery done and it was a success, because I borrowed money and the lockdown prevented me from doing fundraising when I had the first 6 months interest free on one loan it is going to take longer to pay off.

With interest attached to loan the more money raised the quicker the loan can be paid off which would be nice not to have any money oweing.

  • HENRY THE HAPPY HEDGEHOG HELPING FUNDRAISE

      27 November 2020

Tigger's best friend Henry the Happy Hedgehog is helping with fundraising. A beautiful photo on canvas was purchased by a lovely person recently and funds were applied to Give A Little page.

There is a different photo on canvas of Henry the Happy Hedgehog in the Stratford Art Society members exhibition in the Percy Thomson gallery in Stratford for sale.

A picture of the photo on canvas can be viewed on facebook on Richard Woodd's page where he has done a really nice review of the exhibition.

  • REQUEST TO REOPEN PAGE

      12 June 2020

I am requesting Give A Little page is re opened as I do not own a computer and no internet access at home and the page closed during lockdown so I had no way to extend the closing date.

Tigger is doing really well after cataract surgery and is nearly fully recovered with no medication being administered.

However as per previous updates I borrowed money to get the surgery done ASAP due to Tigger's old age. There is interest attached to the loan so fundraising will continue.

Any donations received will be applied to the loan to reduce the interest and length of the loan. Thankyou to everybody that has donated.

I hope to have page re opened soon so those of you that have been wanting to donate can do so.

  • FUNDS NEEDED TO PAY BACK LOAN

      4 March 2020

As previously posted I borrowed money which has interest attached to pay for cataract surgery for Tigger so the surgery could be done asap due to her age.

The first six months is interest free so the more funds I can apply to the loan will reduce the interest paid and the reduce the length of the loan.

If anybody can assist with funds would be greatly appreciated. Cataract surgery was successful and Tigger has eyesight restored.

A checkup with the specialist a couple of weeks was good and recovery is going really well. Thankyou to everybody that has helped, supported, donated and assisted with this cause.

  • CATARACT SURGERY GOING AHEAD

      31 December 2019

To make sure Tigger could have cataract surgery at the earliest possible time I borrowed funds to ensure surgery could go ahead. Thanks to generous donations and borrowed money Tigger is booked in for cataract surgery in January 2020.

The money borrowed has the first 6 months interest free so I am hoping for further donations I can apply to the loan in the first 6 months so I end up with an interest free loan.

Fundraising is still continuing after surgery as money borrowed has to be repaid. Plus there are associated costs such as accommodation, travel, revisits and eye drops.

  • MONEY NEEDED TO ASSIST WITH FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

      14 November 2019

Hi as you know there are costs associated with fundraising like flyers, travel, publicity, prizes for fundraising events, venue fees, etc. I would like to use funds to cover costs associated with main fundraising activity Its In The Bag evening on 29th November 2019 (as per previous update). I hope this is okay as there is costs that need to be prepaid prior including venue and flyers to let people know about the event. I hope this is okay as I need to get people to attend Its In The Bag to generate sufficient funds for Tigger's surgery (we are a wee bit away from the minimum deposit of $2,500).

  • TIGGER DOING WELL AFTER VETERINARY TREATMENT

      24 September 2019

Tigger was in need of having her teeth cleaned and polished as she had mild gingervitis. This required pre surgery tests and general anaesthetic. Fortunately no teeth removal. Tigger is doing well so we are on track to have cataract surgery when enough funds are raised.
