Cataract surgery for Tigger

$3,400 donated
Given by 21 generous donors in 3 years

Tigger has enjoyed a long active life. Tigger has gone blind with cataracts but surgery would restore her eyesight.

Taranaki

I have owned Tigger since she was 6 and a half weeks old. Tigger has always been a very active dog and very kind and gentle with other animals and children. Tigger has always loved going outside and in the car and visiting school children and people in rest homes and hospital.

Since Tigger has lost her eyesight because of cataracts it has been extremely hard for her as she cannot do any of the fun things she used to do. I have permanent chronic physical health issues which has also made it extremely difficult for me as my health costs are very expensive and not subsidised. Tigger has always been a constant companion and going blind has been extremely upsetting for both of us.

Due to permanent health issues I can no longer work so rely on government assistance. I also did take out pet insurance for Tigger years ago however unfortunately the policy does not cover eyes. My one wish is to restore Tigger's eyesight so she can enjoy the last years of her life.

An appointment with the eye specialist in early October will determine the costs associated with surgery. A previous appointment with the eye specialist was $200. A previous quote for cataract surgery was around $3,500 per eye but there was a substantial discount if both eyes were done at the same time.

As Tigger is classed as an older dog time is of the essence so the quicker funds are raised the quicker cataract surgery can be performed. A recent general health check up found Tigger to be in excellent health but additional tests including blood tests are required before cataract surgery. As the specialists appointment is in early October I need to get the tests done prior which cost around $200.

Use of funds

To pay for tests required before cataract surgery to restore Tigger's eyesight and travel and accommodation when Tigger has surgery.

Some funds will be used for fundraising activities in the hopes of generating more funds for the surgery etc.

END DATE TO BE EXTENDED  14 January 2022

I require end date to be extended as I still have the loan with interest for the cataract surgery for Tigger. Due to covid and lockdowns this ruined most of my fundraising efforts so Give A Little is needed to give people a place to still donate. There is still over 12 months to go on the loan so it would be good to have end date extended to allow donations to assist with repayment of the loan.

It is great that Tigger got eyesight back and I hope you can use this donation to cover some of the interest on the loan you took out.
