  • Resting Place - close to our goal, lots of progress!

Hello again, to everyone following the project

Super great work is happening AND big thanks to anyone new who has donated since I last updated

We are $200 off target. Really exciting. I am able to draw down the donations and put them to use, next month.

We will pay 50% of the quoted $3050.00 and the remainder is due on install.

I have Ivana at Crafted Memorials working closely with us now. Today I completed the 'Application for Monumental Permit’

Warren sent through a great mock up of the plague, Ivana has this, and I am awaiting her layout proof.

I love the look of 2 iconic symbols gracing the plague.

Cirsium vulgare (Scottish Thistle) and Cyathea dealbata (Silver Fern)

Note Warrens’s handy-work in the mock up (pictured) would have 2 changes:

1 - Lower case ‘a’ in Away and

2- The thistle on the left would be white, a requirement

Now is you chance to share any further recommendations or similar for the plague.

I believe we will be looking at a Spring unveiling.

I’ll keep you posted. The main thing is, Catherine’s resting place, will be named and ready for visitors later this year!

    Ceud mìle taing !

    "a hundred thousand thanks"

    say (kyud mee-luh tayng)

    X

    Vicki

    Hi Family and Co

Quick update while I have fresh info to hand

    BIG TICKS

    - Burial Rights issued in my name this week - a real relief!

    - 3 x quotes receievd for Headstone, very particular specifications (basic, which is kind on budget) needing approval from the Heritage Committee

    - Timing - unknown but at least 3 months for approvals and stone masonry

Example of best quote so far:-

    Leveled Concrete Foundation 1200x600

Concrete Recumbent Desk 550x380x120 with Grey granite plaque

Concrete Base 920x380x100 with 2 Vase holes and 2 Silver Dome Vases

White letters to fit the plaque

Up to two pieces of White artwork

    Layout proof

    Installation

Package deal incl. Gst $2,850 (add $200 for permit)

Quite pleasing considering I set a conservative goal of $3000.00 and WOW we are half way there.

Can I invite anyone to share thoughts on inscription

Usually we have around 200 'letters' to play with

There will be essential resting place details, then our own words

Below is simply an old time example (not a draft or final) we need to acknowledge the era with our wording . . . I’d love you all to help/suggest/be part of this . . .

    In Loving Remembrance of

    Catherine Robertson Fowlie

    Passed Away 30 August 1921

    Aged 28 Years

'Life Is Not Forever. Love Is’

Try feeding back to this update, by replying on the page

We have time, but progress means ideas need to flow.

    Any questions are welcome

    x

    Vicki

Hi Vicki, I have just registered to be able to give you feedback. First, GREAT JOB. I can imagine dealing with Council has not been straight forward, but you got there. Stage 1 complete, No Stage 2, getting the design fixed in place.

      My thoughts, not suggestions.

Artwork: A Scotch Thistle on one side of the headstone and a Silver Fern on the other. Joining her origin and destination

I will check in again with you once you have more progress in your Odessey

Take Care and again Great Work

Thanks Warren- sometimes I get lost trying to click through, so well done us for making this work! Love these suggestions as representing both Scotland and NZ is very fitting. I have asked my stone mason representatives be to prepare artwork. Watch this space! Anyone else reading here… thanks a million for taking part in our project. Proud to have this coming together so well! - Vicki -

    Quick Family Update

Happy Mother's Day to Mother figures and All

A wee visit to Waikemete today was moody, with rain stopping just on time for some Amaranthus (love-lies-bleeding) and ChrysantheMUM blessings for the site.

Thanks for the support, it’s so great to have you here to watch progress.

Reminder - there will be no repeated requests for monetary donations. This is an update place, the link can be shared with anyone purely so they can watch and learn

Sharon my new buddy at Auckland Council Cemeteries has granted me burial rights, next step is paperwork for a permit and stone masonry research

Great e-meeting cuzzies and having yarns about memories ‘visits to the farm’ and mischief making.

    Tatty-bye!
