Helping to keep going forward
Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui
Early this year I was diagnosed with cauda equina syndrome. One of my spinal disks ruptured leaving me in an extreme amount of pain and numbness from the waist down. I had to have emergency surgery and was air lifted to wellington hospital.. The heal time can be upwards of a year and a half and that may not be a 100% recovery.as it is all nerve related. I have lost control of my bowel and bladder and alot of numbness that is very slowly fading.
All of this happened when I was between jobs so acc won't cover and I had to pass up on my new job as I'm very unfit for work at the moment.
So now I have no income and am a stay at home dad of my almost 2 year old which is proving to be hard with very limited movement currently.
I can't drive as my right foot is numb and has lost alot of strength.
I'm the type of guy who hates asking for help, male pride and what not but right now I need it
Bills are stacking up fast and I'm still in and out of hospital and the GP weekly
Asking for any help to keep me on my feet and get me to the treatment I need so I can get back to work and some form of normal living again
The money will be going towards travel and medical costs as acc won't cover me and I will eventually have to go to burwood spinal unit in Christchurch to get specialized care. Any extra will go towards consumables (medical products) that I need to keep some dignity
