Caydens leukemia battle

Wellington

Our homie with the extra chromie, Cayden was diagnosed with Leukemia on the 7th of May 2025. Our world was completely flipped upside down.

Cayden and his mum Georgia were then Life Flighted to Christchurch Child Haematology and Oncology Centre (CHOC) to undergo the first lot of cancer treatment. After this initial treatment, there will continue to be trips to and from Christchurch and Wellington undergoing further treatments for the foreseeable future.

Cayden has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This has affected his T-cells which help fight off infections. He starts Chemotherapy on the 13th of May.

While Georgia travelled with Cayden, myself, Ben (dad) and a good bunch of people are here in Wellington to all take care of Cayden’s big sister Niah in the hope she can continue on with life as normal as can be in the circumstances.

We are hugely appreciative of the support and guidance received from all the staff at CHOC but are figuring out pretty quickly that this unexpected journey we now find ourselves on is going to be expensive. While some travel and accommodation is paid for (which we are so grateful for), not all of it is. Georgia is not able to work for the foreseeable future and also Ben will need time off work to be able to spend with Cayden. We understand money is tight for a lot of people nowadays, but if you are in a position where you can donate, we would so very appreciative of it and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.

But Cayden finally after spending over 3 months in Christchurch hospital, Cayden was finally allowed to return to Wellington.

Our hearts are happy ❤️ our cup is full ☕️

After everything Cayden has been through he deserved to come home. And he made it.

Cayden has weekly Chemo treatments in Wellington, but apart from that we have become his nurses. We are hoping for no more hiccups and that he stays in Wellington with the odd (planned) trip to Christchurch for check up appointments.

Welcome home Cayden 🥳
