Help Chakra get answers!
Bay of Plenty
A few months ago I took Chakra to the vet because she was having trouble walking. It turned out she has a problem where her knee slips out sometimes and she can't walk on it till it slips back in.
Just before Christmas it had gotten worse and by early Jan she wasn't walking on it at all and was starting to look like it is now something unrelated to her knee issue.
We had a exercise routine that was very gentle on her leg but also gave her the outdoor sensory that is crucial to a dog's mental health. By the middle of Jan she was refusing to go in the car. We got the words "bone cancer" and "arthritis" thrown around and had extra bloods done. They all came back clean. They then did x-rays to see if they could see anything and there was nothing showing there either.
She is not taking to the medication she was prescribed and is falling into depression. Doesn't even want her dinner most days. We got more bloods done and her autoimmune levels were up. So now we have sent bloods away to a specialist and she needs more x-rays. And to have them checked by a specialist also.
I am putting this page up to see if anyone is able to help with the ongoing vet bill, I am extremely grateful for the ability to pay using afterpay but the payments are getting far out of my reach, and we still don't have answers.
The next x-rays and bloods are to check for spinal tumors.
Any small amount is gratefully accepted.

Vet visit today 25 February 2025
So we went to see the vet again today for follow up appointment and to have more xrays.
The bloods are still showing high autoimmune markers. The x-rays are showing that her spleen is about 3x the regular size.
She is now on strong painkillers and antiinflammatories as well as starting a strong steroid. Which will hopefully help bring back her appetite as she has lost 1kg in the last week, not eating her breakfast or dinner, but happy to eat yummy snax (she loves chicken necks!)
So our next step is to wait and see what happens over this next week with steroid and then go through to Whakatane next week to have an ultrasound and biopsy done.
Thankyou so much to everyone who has supported us through this tough time.
