Helping those bound together by cancer. We can't lessen the pain but we support ways in making it more endurable.

Chalky Carr’s vision continues in a new transport support service for patients undergoing cancer treatment at Christchurch Hospital, 'Chalky's Cars'.
Please travel with these brave patients if you can. $50 donated is a return trip from home to hospital, $250 is return trip every week for a month. Every little helps.
The service is known as 'Chalky’s Car's’ in memory of the Trust’s Founder, Chalky Carr, who passed away in January of this year. In the face of terminal cancer, with the help of family and friends, decorated hero and All Blacks man Carr set up the Chalky Carr Trust. The charity's vision is to raise funds to make a practical impact for a person living with a cancer diagnosis or their family members who need support through the journey.
Chalky received his treatment in Christchurch Hospital’s Oncology unit and it was here that he observed the experiences of other patients and their families. He decided he wanted to help. Chalky’s vision continues to live out through his Trust. Having spent time getting to and from the hospital (with his wife Sarah) Chalky identified the need to make the journey there and return home easier for those undergoing chemotherapy. Parking, traffic, road works, these are all obstacles in an already difficult situation.
Chalky’s Cars is a partnership with Blue Star Taxis where the Trust will provide a partial service of free and subsidised taxis to take patients to and from treatments. Chalky always said the simple things, even sucking on a 'Mintie', could make a difference in chemo. His Trust aims to make the worst of times easier for those brave patients undergoing treatment. Though unable to lessen the pain, hoping to make it more endurable.
It is not the first time we have reached out to the public for support. With the help of many, including Givealittle supporters and All Black and Crusader Sam Whitelock (a close friend of Carr’s) the Trust first raised $100,000 for wee Isla Lunn, a motherless girl who just needed a nest egg. With that safely stowed for Isla's future we completed Chalky Carr Trust's first chapter.
The Trust went onto raise another $100,000+ to deliver the 1st XV Chalky's Chairs for those undergoing treatment, those bound together by cancer. These ergonomically designed chairs are now in place and in use.
Thank you for helping if you can.
