Challenge Day Nz.Helping intermediate and college age kids connect through compassion and empathy.

If you really knew me, you would know that I am extremely passionate about helping kids. As a 7 year old, my mum passed away of cancer. I went through a tough few years without her and on top of that I was bullied throughout intermediate and college. When I became a primary teacher for the first time 14 years ago, I wanted to help a student in my class who was having a hard time with bullying. The subject was close to home so I did some research. I came across Challenge Day in The USA and really wanted to bring it to NZ because of the effect and impact it had on a school and its culture. Now, I have experience behind me.I am fully committed and passionate about making a difference in our schools to help kids connect with others so that bullying isn't part of the culture anymore. This issue isn't going away. We all know of someone who has been effected by it. This programme has been around for 35 years in The USA. It is also in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Canada. It is my goal to bring Challenge Day to Nelson region, then New Zealand for the very first time. To do this, I need your help with the cost of training. I have already booked to do this in July this year! Any funds will be going directly to Challenge Day USA for my training and rights to use the material here in NZ. This will then be developed further by me to suit our Kiwi culture and values. My plan is to become a leader for CD, bring my learnings to Nelson and start a pilot programme.
