The police reports have established a crime scene of a house fire initiated yesterday which was reported to Police and NSW Fire and Rescue, about 12.32pm at Napier Avenue, Lurnea. Charles has lost his home of 15 years and every sentimental valuable including family images.
Charles Cuddy : “It started at another house and jumped to my house. My ex-wife’s friend told her they thought our house could be on fire and I was unaware because I was at work. So my ex-wife called me to let me know. I thought it might have been saved but when I came, I was told it had been destroyed,” he said.
“It’s not good. I’m devastated because my son, Sharne Cuddy, died last year, he was known as a football player at Liverpool Catholic Club. He was only 16 when he committed suicide. All his valuables and clothes were in his room. That was the saddest loss, but the rest can be fixed but when you lose your baby’s belongings, that’s the hardest thing. Everything of my son’s was sentimental.
“The fire brigade told me the entire second level of the house had just collapsed so I don’t think there will be anything left. I’ll worry about it later and the process of getting it sorted. You have to keep going. There’s not much I can do about it now so I’m trying to keep positive. At least they were able to get my dog out from the back!”
I have been asked to create this page on behalf of his sister Toni for all people around the world to access.
The use of funds will be given to Charles to help regain everything he has lost in his home and to help towards temporary housing and future housing plans.
