Wellington

Can you spare $15 to help 15 charities?

To celebrate the formation of Altrusa International of Ohariu in the northern suburbs of Wellington, New Zealand, we wish to donate to 15 charitable organisations at our charter ceremony. Our goal is to raise at least $100 for each group, to be presented at our charter ceremony on Thursday 13th of December.

Altrusa members have selected organisations that provide important services to our local community and reflect our values. We chose 15 beneficiaries to represent the 15 members required to charter our new club. This fund raiser will support (alphabetically):

* Bellyful Porirua

* Days for Girls New Zealand

* Dementia Wellington

MORE INFORMATION

Bellyful Porirua - http://www.bellyful.org.nz/porirua/

Bellyful cooks and delivers meals to families with newborn babies and families with young children who are struggling with illness, where there is little or no family or social support.

Days for Girls New Zealand - https://www.daysforgirls.org/new-zealand

Days for Girls increases access to menstrual care and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social enterprises, mobilizing volunteers, and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and limitations for women and girls. Together, we're creating a world with dignity, health, and opportunity for all.

Dementia Wellington - https://www.dementiawellington.org.nz/

Dementia Wellington (formerly Alzheimers Wellington) supports anyone affected by dementia in the Wellington region, and offers education on brain health and dementia to community groups, businesses and the wider public.

Foster Hope Wellington - https://www.fosterhope.org.nz/wellington/

Foster Hope believes that every child in care deserves to know that their community cares about them. We demonstrate this through providing children with a backpack to ease their way and symbolise community support for them and their carer’s.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren - https://www.grg.org.nz/

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Trust New Zealand is a registered not for profit organisation that provides nationwide support services, to around 7500 full time grandparent and whanau carers in New Zealand. For more than 95% of the families we work with the grandparents have become full-time caregivers as a result of a traumatic event or family breakdown where there has been serious issues with the parents.

Kaibosh - https://www.kaibosh.org.nz

Kaibosh is based in Wellington and is New Zealand’s first food rescue organisation. We link the food industry with community groups that support people in need ensuring that quality surplus food reaches those who are struggling rather than being needlessly discarded. This benefits both our community and our environment.

Kiwi Community Assistance (KCA) - https://www.kca.org.nz/

Kiwi Community Assistance (KCA) helps communities throughout Wellington by rescuing surplus food and household goods, and redistributing it to frontline agencies working directly with people in need.

Mary Potter Hospice - https://marypotter.org.nz/

We provide the best quality specialist hospice care for people living with a terminal illness in Wellington, and support for their families.

Menz Shed Tawa - http://menzshed.org.nz/menzshed-tawa/

A shed brings men together in one community space to share their skills, have a laugh, and work on practical tasks individually (personal projects) or as a group (for the shed or community). The sort of projects a shed tackles is entirely up to the shed concerned, however most sheds around New Zealand take on some community projects, examples of which include building playgrounds for pre-school centres, repairing toy library stock, repairing old bikes for distribution to poorer communities, building planter boxes for the main street of the local central business district, and the list goes on.

NZ Red Cross Refugee Programmes - https://www.redcross.org.nz/what-we-do/in-new-zealand/refugee-programmes/

We are the primary provider of community refugee resettlement programmes in New Zealand. Our programmes support and empower new Kiwis as they rebuild their lives here.

Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Aotearoa (PADA) - http://www.pada.nz/

To eliminate the stigma around perinatal mental health in New Zealand by championing awareness and facilitating best practice in perinatal mental health and wellbeing to ensure all families have access to appropriate information and support.

Skylight Trust - https://www.skylight.org.nz/

We support people of all ages throughout New Zealand who are facing any kind of tough life situation, but we specialise in grief, loss and trauma.

The Compassion Soup Kitchen - https://soupkitchen.org.nz/about-us/vision-mission/

We seek to provide support to people in need, which includes those who are marginalised through such things as mental health issues, addictions, homelessness and poverty. We also seek to provide support to people in need because of social isolation, limited social skills, limited education, and in times of crisis.

WELLfed - https://www.wellfed.kiwi/

To empower and enable parents to learn how to feed their families well. WELLfed delivers FREE cooking classes - teaching basic cooking skills. Participants learn how to plan, shop, safely prepare and cook low-cost healthy meals, with a strong focus on seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables.

Wellington Free Ambulance - https://www.wfa.org.nz/

The only emergency ambulance service in Greater Wellington and Wairarapa, and the only ones in New Zealand who are free.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
