Jaden Movold, an aspiring Paralympian and record-holding wheelchair racer, seeks funding to compete internationally with the world's best.
Auckland
Dear Supporter,
I am a 19-year-old para-athlete who was born with the most severe form of Spina Bifida. Despite many challenges, including 32 major surgeries, my pursuit of sports excellence has always been integral to me.
As the world's #1 wheelchair racer in the U20 5000m T54 category, I've set national records, gained international podium finishes, and demonstrated my potential against the world's best. My ultimate goal is to represent New Zealand at the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. To achieve this, I must compete internationally, challenge top athletes, and qualify for major events before 2028.
My self-financed participation in the 2023 Summer Down Under Wheelchair Racing Series (Australia) and the World Para Athletics (WPA) Grand Prix (Switzerland) is just the beginning. However, the journey ahead, including crucial meets such as the WPA Grand Prix Series events (Dubai, Nottwil, Paris) and international training camps in 2024, demands more than I can shoulder alone.
Your support is essential for these international endeavours. You're backing not just an athlete but a symbol of perseverance, ambition, and inclusivity. I promise to share every milestone and triumph with you, as you will be a crucial part of my journey.
Your contribution goes beyond supporting my ambitions; it inspires others who see themselves in my story. Thank you for considering to be a part of this journey, where we can make dreams a reality together.
With gratitude and determination,
Jaden Movold
Money will be used for flights, accommodation, entry fees, local transport, food, support staff, and insurance to compete on the world stage at the top international wheelchair racing events and training camps on the 2024 calendar.
Achievements, Advocacy, and Appreciation 20 June 2024
Hello everyone,
I wanted to update you on my recent activities and express my sincere gratitude for your support.
As a T54 Para-Athlete and Wheelchair Racer, I've been working hard despite a recent leg and hip injury, adapting my gym workouts and swimming frequently. Injuries are all a part of the journey.
Alongside my sport, I've been involved in advocacy, visiting schools in Northland and Auckland through the 'Seeing is Believing' initiative by Paralympics New Zealand. Seeing students embrace inclusivity and sports is inspiring and central to my mission of promoting accessibility for people with disabilities.
I’m thrilled to share that I recently won the 2024 North Harbour Club AIMES Award for Service to the Community. This recognition means a lot to me and is a testament to the hard work I put into both my athletic and advocacy efforts. It’s an honour to be acknowledged, and it motivates me to strive for excellence.
Working closely with my team—including my track coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionist, physiotherapist, and mental performance coach—I’m preparing for upcoming competitions later this year, determined to continue pushing boundaries in my sport.
I've extended my Givealittle campaign to allow more people to join me on this journey. Your support means everything to me. Together, we're making strides towards a more inclusive future.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Let's keep moving forward together!
Warm regards,
Jaden Movold
