Help adventurer Tim Sutton in his bid to tackle the 'Revenant' ultra adventure race while fighting for a predator free New Zealand.

Wellington

Hey guys!

I've been selected to race the Revenant adventure ultra running race in Jan 2019. Set in the Garvie Mountains where Central Otago and Southland meet, it's big country! At more than 190 kilometers, 16000 meters of vertical ascent (that's nearly two times up and down Mt Everest...) and nothing but a map and compass to navigate the unmarked course, the Revenant is set to be one of toughest running races on the planet. With a time limit of 60 hours, just reaching the finish line will be a formidable challenge. "A true challenge is when failure is the most likely outcome."-Revenant website.

I'm passionate about our wild places and the endless adventures that they offer. Over the last few years this passion has seen me testing my own physical and mental limits in our beautiful backcountry. I have managed to record a number of FKT's (fastest known time) over various historic routes in the misty Tararuas culminating in November 2017 when I became the first person to summit all 15 peaks over 1500 meters, non-stop, solo and unsupported. This had me on the move in the mountains for over 28 hours. I have also placed 1st in a number of trail ultra-marathons and mountain races, setting the current course record for the A100 three day stage ultra in Aorangi Forest Park. When the Revenant was announced I knew I had to be a part of the adventure.

Please help me raise funds to work towards a competitive entry and race. A little will go a long way. Over my six month training leading up to the race I will be writing a monthly blog which will be published by NZTrailRun, sharing my training adventures and thoughts as I build towards race day, January 18, 2019.

In my time spent in our wilderness I have noticed a slow but sure return of native bird life to the silent forests of my childhood. This would not be possible without the dedicated work of DOC and volunteers around the country working towards a predator free New Zealand. I'm pledging 50 percent of the funds raised to go directly to purchasing Good Nature predator traps which will go to the Aoarangi Trust and other community predator control groups in the Wellington Region.

Come join me on my journey while looking after this beautiful country we're lucky to call home. Every little bit will be greatly appreciated. Here's to the adventure!

Cheers,

Tim Sutton

Use of funds

50% of funds raised will be used to help Tim put together a competitive training regime, race entry, travel and accommodation. The remaining 50% will go directly to the purchase of Good Nature predator traps.
