Nationwide
Cliff Robinson has raised and cared for his disabled children, Marita & John for over 40 years. He's been a fierce advocate, and inspiring parent. He's worked with many other families, and had far too many battles in a country that prides itself on compassion. Cliff is now 80, and still caring day and night for Marita and John. Money is always tight, and with Christmas coming up we'd like to help the Robinsons out - Cliff wouldn't let us set up a fund for him - this will go directly to Marita's account to be shared with John. You can watch a recent TVNZ piece on this wonderful family here http://tvnz.co.nz/sunday-news/labour-love-kiwi-dad-s-50-year-fight-his-disabled-kids-video-6505884
I've known the Robinsons for 27 years - and I'm one of two trustees for Marita and John, who will make decisions in the event of Cliff's passing.
What plans we are making! 12 December 2016
Here are some words from Cliff:
I would like to thank those people who have sent such heart-warming messages of support which I have explained to Marita and John. I told them also of the generous financial support: “Buy more key-rings” said John. “Another wedding dress” was Marita’s wish. I have been getting ideas from chemist shops (they love gift boxes) and jewelry shops.
We are going to visit my 95 year old sister in Palmerston North who they love in early January and will then go to Te Papa - a good learning experience. And of course, the trip to the South island to visit family in late February is now possible for the first time in a very long time.
Thank you again – and all the best for these busy days leading up to Christmas. We are so grateful to you all.
