‘Chess for Champions of Determination ‘ chess tournament

Donations needed in support of chess tournament for people with disabilities.

The New Zealand Chess Federation (NZCF) is proud to be holding the ‘Chess for Champions of Determination ‘ chess tournament on 27 September 2025 at Parkside Specialist School - 184 Wellington Street, Pukekohe – as part of the International Chess Federation’s ‘Year of Social Chess’.

The tournament is free to enter for people with physical disabilities as well as those who have autism, Down syndrome, severe ADHD, cognitive delay or other diagnosed mental health conditions.

This inclusive event welcomes players of all abilities, creating a respectful and encouraging environment for everyone to enjoy the game of chess.

Some funds have already been raised by the NZCF, but another $2,000 is needed to cover the costs of a professional videographer, a professional photographer and the creation of a ‘photo zone’ at the event.
