Gallagher Chiefs Variety Winter Appeal Fundraiser

The Gallagher Chiefs have teamed up with Variety – the Children’s Charity to raise money for the Variety Warm Hearts Winter Appeal. With the support of their loyal fans, the Chiefs hope to raise $16,800 and provide 50 beds and bedding packs to Kiwi kids in need.

Sadly, children living in deprivation are three times as likely to be hospitalised due to respiratory conditions (Child Poverty Monitor Technical Report, 2019).

This is often a result of cold, damp housing as well as overcrowding. This year, we have seen an increased number of children who are either sleeping on the couch or floor, or sharing a bed with family members. These conditions increase the risk of transmission of highly infectious winter illnesses, but a proper bed and adequate bedding can minimise these risks and ultimately reduce hospital admissions for our tamariki.

Bring your whānau along to the afternoon match against the Highlanders on Sunday 19th July 2020 at the FMG Stadium in Hamilton. Every dollar from a kid’s ticket sold in the fan zone will be donated to Variety. At only $8 per ticket, come along and support a great cause.
