Help child therapy, support for families/whānau and work in the family violence sector continue during the lockdown. Donations will ensure that we'll be able to continue providing support at a time when families need access to these services more than ever.
Our child therapists are still working with their current clients, are supporting new clients who need support (mostly teens and adults) and they're also talking with the parents and caregivers of their clients to provide support to them during this time, albeit digitally.
It's going to be more difficult than ever to continue providing our services to children and families due to the cancellation/postponement of all of our planned fundraising events and the financial impact that the lockdown is having on granting bodies on whom we can usually rely.
Social workers from our Residential Parenting Programme are busy remotely-supporting whānau who either have or were set to be participating in our residential programmes in Barrington, Christchurch.
Our work in the family violence sector through our Canterbury ISR Collaboration continues as usual. We are able to redeploy staff from other areas to support this work if necessary.
Our Refocus team continues to support our wider community, the whānau are keeping in touch regularly with our team (mainly via text) and we're looking at ways to provide additional support at this time.
As New Zealand’s 2nd oldest Charity (est. 1898), Home and Family have evolved from ‘The Society for the Protection of Women’ into a child-focused organisation protecting childhoods by providing early intervention and wrap-around support.
Money will go towards the ongoing cost of providing our services, contributing towards our loss of income from our clients being less able to contribute towards the cost of each session, and to a decrease of money from grants and fundraising events.
